Student Leaders

Rev. Denton Hickman serves as Youth and Singles Minister for Inskip Baptist Church.  As a Knoxville native, Denton attended schools in Knox and Union Counties.  Post high school training prepared him for sales, management and leadership in the public sector where he spent several years prior to being called into ministry.  In May 1999, God’s call to His service provided specific opportunities for preaching and discipleship.  He served as Interim Pastor for Spring Street Baptist Church and Supply Pastor for Emory Valley, Fairview Baptist, Clapps Chapel and Bethel Baptist Churches in Knox and surrounding counties.  In September 2002, he answered a call to Inskip Baptist Church as youth and singles Minister, where he continues to serve.  He is active in organizing and facilitating programs for youth groups, within as well as outside Knox County, for such groups as MERGE,  Disciplequest Summer Youth Camps and  has provided training for Youth Ministers/ Workers for Vacation Bible School through Knox County Baptist Association.

He is active in youth sports having served as Assistant Football Coach for Gibbs Youth Recreation Program and Assistant Football Coach at Maynardville Middle School and Union County High School.  He and his wife Jamie are the parents of three children; Christopher, Michael and Emilee.

ClaySegers loves school, naps, Kentucky basketball, rap music, Litton’s restaurant and naps. Clay thinks Angels can be, but don’t have to be, small. Clay has been a youth worker since 2008  and currently teaches High school guys. Clay has been to Guatemala and Brazil on mission trips. He works and will be graduating college this year 2013 and hopes to  be a high school teacher.

Kim Damewood has worked with the youth since 2007 and loves every minute of it. She currently teaches high school girls. She also loves God, her baby boy (born Sept 2010) which is Spiderman, her husband (married 2007), dancing, singing, and beating Denton Hickman at everything (although this doesn’t happen often).  She loves to pronounce big words correctly (being the self appointed expert), especially words with silent letters (like Carmel and Aeropostole).Kim hates being wrong and loves it when other people are….jk… She is working on a language to communicate with ghosts (in big word format). Kim is excited about continuing her work with the youth.  She hopes to help youth find the bridge to God through Jesus Christ and be a light for him.

Jamie Hickman has been a youth worker since 2008  and currently teaches high school girls. She has 3 children, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 1 crazy husband. She has been married for 22 years and spends the night with the youth minister pretty frequently. Jamie loves Spring Summer and Fall, but hates Winter (as it reminds her of her cold heart) Jamie loves Mcribs and chicken livers. Jamie likes to have 6 lock-ins a year. Jamie also thinks Beth Moore is the coolest. She suffers from arachnophobia and multiple other issues which is a result of being married to the Amazing Denton Hickman
